Choosing a new bank – Part 1, the search

pink piggy sm Choosing a new bank Part 1, the searchAs I detailed in my posts about debit fraud (here and here) I need to change banks. Washington Mutual is simply clueless about stopping the ongoing drain on my account. It turns out that choosing a new one is not very simple.

Selection Criteria

1) Washington Mutual is not eligible. They are clueless, and I believe they would simply take money from my new account to cover the inevitable continuing drain on my old one, even after it is closed.

2) Wells Fargo is not eligible. Simply put, ick ick ick. Terrible bank.

3) Bank must have online billpay, preferably free.

4) Bank must have free or very inexpensive ATMs.

5) Bank must have a good rating at Fat Wallet and/or Epinions.

6) Bank must not have any monthly maintenance fees, or else an easily satisfied rule to get those fees waived.
