I’ve been reading “Ask and It Is Given lately, and I’m really intrigued by one of the "processes" given in the book. The idea is to make a play money account, and make regular deposits into it. The goal is to spend all the money on things that make your heart glad. The amount of money deposited increases each time, so you are forced to widen your vision as the games goes on.
I’m doing this as an exercise to reawaken my capacity to dream big dreams. It was an extremely uncomfortable and eye opening experience earlier this year when I read “The Millionaire Maker: Act, Think, and Make Money the Way the Wealthy Do” . At one point in that book, Loral asks the reader "What would you want if you could have anything?" Both my wife and I found the question remarkably difficult to answer. Our dream-powers had been squashed by the constant ratcheting in of our goals to conform with what we thought was possible and "reasonable." It was a turning point for me. I will live a more expansive life than that, and to do that, I need to get back my ability to think big.
